Building relationships with families affected by psychosis is aided by embodied responses, connecting personally with them to support change from a safe place. We would want to talk of the connection between the personal and the professional in our work. We have both experienced psychosis in our ancestory and in our present families and mental distress. We have found these experiences invaluable in connecting with families and training professionals to work with those affected by psychosis. We will speak of what we have learnt from our families, the impact on the wider system and the narratives that perpuate across generations. We will discuss how this impacts how we practice and our sense of change for families.
