In-Person or Virtual?

This AFT Conference 2024 is a hybrid conference taking place at the Delta Hotel by Marriott Bristol City Centre on 19 & 20 September 2024.

The conference features a full 'in-person' programme and also the option of watching all keynote sessions and selected workshops online.

If you wish to attend the event in-person, then your will need to purchase an 'In-Person' ticket (this also includes access to the virtual portal to watch live sessions online and access to replays).

If you are only planning to watch sessions online, then please purchase a 'Virtual Ticket'.

How do I watch the conference online?

All sessions are accessed through this website. Although live sessions will be hosted on Zoom, they will still be accessed via this website (i.e. you will not receive a Zoom link as you would with a regular Zoom meeting).  Here is how to watch...

Step 1:  Click the button at the top of this website that says, 'Virtual Portal (ticket holders only)'.  This will open up a log-in pop-up window.  Note - this button will only appear a couple of weeks before the event.

Step 2:  Enter your login details.  Your login details will have been provided to you in an email about a week before the conference.  If you have not received your log-in details, please email aftevents@mintevents.co.uk.

Step 3:  You will now be on the virtual portal page.  Simply scroll down the page to the session that you would like to join.  There will be a 'Join Live Session' button underneath it.  Click this button and you will be connected to Zoom.

Step 4:  Zoom will open in the regular way, i.e., a new window will open in your web browser and will ask if you would like to open your Zoom app.

Step 5:  Sit back and enjoy the session.

I am a virtual attendee - will I be on screen?  Will I be able to ask questions?

Virtual attendees will not be on screen and will not be able to use their microphones.

However, you will be able to use the chat button to chat with other virtual attendees and also the 'Q&A' button to ask questions of the presenters.  Each streamed session will feature moderators who will put virtual audience questions to the presenters.  Please note that it is down to each individual presenter as to whether they allow time for audience questions.

I am an in-person attendee - will I be on camera?

All the sessions that are streamed virtually will have a video camera crew in them.  Whilst the camera crew will be primarily focused on the presenters, they may film wider shots of the audience at times.  Additionally, during any Q&A or audience participation sessions, if you ask a question of the presenters, you may be filmed so that the virtual audience can see the question being asked.

Will there be replays?

Yes.  All sessions that are streamed virtually will be recorded and made available to ticket holders as replays.  You can access replays via the virtual portal on this website.

Zoom Help

Although you access all streamed conference sessions through this website, the live sessions will be hosted on Zoom.  If you are unfamiliar with Zoom, we recommend downloading the Zoom app and familiarising yourself with Zoom before the event.

Zoom can be accessed on desktop or laptop PC (Windows or Apple OS) or mobile device (Apple iPhone/iPad iOS or Android).

What types of sessions are there?

The conference features three types of session...

Keynote Presentations:  These are the main plenary sessions that all attendees will watch.

Workshops:  There are two workshop slots each day, each with a choice of eight workshops in it.  In-person attendees will be able to choose which workshop they attend.  In-Person attendees can pre-book their workshops ahead of the conference (you will be sent a link about a month before the event).  Please note that each workshop has a limited capacity and is subject to availability on a first come first serve basis.

Virtual attendees will not get a choice of workshops - only one workshop from each slot will be streamed to the virtual audience.  This is due to logistical reasons.

Fringe events:  these are less formal shorter sessions that take place before the conference start and also during lunch time.  You will not need to pre-book these.  Fringe events will not be available to virtual attendees.

Do virtual tickets include all conference sessions?

No.  Virtual tickets include all keynote presentations and one workshop from each workshop session.  This is due to logistics.

Do 'In-Person' tickets include food and accommodation?

In-Person tickets include lunch and refreshments.  In addition, in-person attendees can choose to attend the Conference Dinner on Thu 19 September, which is provided by Coexist Community Kitchen onsite at the Delta Hotel.  Dinner is an additional purchase.

Conference tickets do NOT include accommodation.  If you require accommodation, you will need to make your own arrangements, although we have provided a limited number of discounted bedrooms at the Delta Hotel (head to the Venue & Accommodation page of this website for more details).

Do I need to attend all sessions?

There is an expectation that you will watch all sessions, either live or on replay, to achieve your CPD hours.

What time zone are the presentations in?

All times listed on this website are in UK (London) time.

Are there any terms and conditions of booking?

Yes, you can view terms and conditions here.

On or before 16 August 2024, you can amend or cancel your booking and receive a refund (less a £20 admin fee).  After 16 September 2022 any cancellations or amendments that result in a lower booking value will be non-refundable.

Is there an early bird rate?

Yes, the early bird rate is available until 31 May 2024.

What is the price of tickets?  How can I book and pay?

Please look out for the email and make payment as soon as possible after booking.  If you do not receive your invoice within 24 hours of making your booking, firstly, please check your 'junk' mail and if it is not in there, please email aftevents@mintevents.co.uk

All invoices must be paid before the conference.
