Systemic psychotherapists in conversation with director at UK AIDS Memorial, promoting HIV awareness and celebrating systemic ancestors, past, present and future. We will reflect on my research study entitled “The experience of psychotherapist in delivering treatment to individuals, children and families living with HIV in the UK”. And how people with HIV continue to face significant bias. Many therapists know little about HIV and have no training in working with people with HIV. Take aways - Therapists will gain a greater understanding of the sociocultural context related to HIV and should use an intersectional approach with working with clients with HIV.
Practical implication – This workshop allows practitioners to see what clinical work with clients with HIV may look like and gives practical information for therapists to follow regarding language and context for client concerns and seeing a whole person.
Systemic clinical Framework – lends hand to ethical decision-making and how to consider the whole person in dealing with people living with HIV.
