Family Therapy: working where there are concerns about health and illness

In this presentation we will be exploring current practice working with families where there are experiences relating to illness and physical health. We will be offering an overview of key theoretical ideas, outcome measures and evaluation as well as case studies that illustrate the same in practice. We will be paying particular attention to the role of race, gender, ability, age and other marginalised identities, in how ideas about the body, medicine and health are understood and construct experiences of all those involved. As part of this, will also be offering an interactive and experiential space for participants to consider their own relationships to the same.

The conference is organised by the Association for Family Therapy and Systemic Practice
