Workshop Information

We would like to host a conversation about the ways we negotiate our relationships with clients in contexts where a strict separation between the therapy room and outside life is not feasible. We are two family therapists working in the third sector with refugees and asylum seekers, who often come from contexts where the western practice of talking therapy and the boundaries around that are not well known. Our experience from this and other contexts, has led us to be interested in the question of boundaries between therapist and clients and especially what affordances might exist if we understood boundaries in untraditional ways.

The conference is organised by the Association for Family & Systemic Psychotherapy
